So if you're freshly out of surgery, don't stress it. If you are asking, in general, I'd say the best thing you can do to work on dexterity of all your fingers, not just the pinky, is to work through the Unlimited Dexterity course. And if still is a struggle, after some time, just use 3 fingers, and look at videos of Django Reinhardt who only had TWO fingers. It's possible if you put your mind to it! Use your ring finger in place of the pinky. In the meantime, if your DR has you doing any exercises continue doing them. Do not do anything to cause further injury to your pinky.
