Greetings, I'm Michael from Seneca, South Carolina

My name is Michael Caudill, I'm 67 y/o retired university instructor. I've been working for about 15 years to learn not just how to play songs, but to freely express myself using the guitar. I'm well short of that goal, but better than when I started. I joined the BTG courses two years ago and have been working my way through the Lead Guitar track, revisiting most lessons 2-3 times before things sink in.

There are still things I need to learn in the basic courses, however this felt like the right time to join the Academy. The abilities I most want to develop are combining the How To Play Anything By Ear training with Module 10 of the How to Play Across the Entire Fretboard Without Thinking training. I see achieving these skills as essential to free expression on the guitar. I've been working on the ear training for the last 6 months - there has been some improvement in identifying the notes and emotional tags, but it is still inconsistent.

I look forward interacting the other Academy students and instructors while developing new skills and ways of expressing myself.
