Trebble maker...

Sivad

Hi all! Apparently I am rebellious and maybe a touch anti-social. I do not mean to be. Now that I have been a Breakthrough student for almost two months I will try to start "doing as the Romans do" because I am told music is best when shared. 🙂

A little about me:

My name is Patrick and my username "Sivad" is my last name spelled backwards. Sometimes my sense of humor is twisted and dark by many standards, but that and music is what has helped me survive the decades. For example, when asked to introduce myself with one fact and one guilty pleasure I usually respond, " I am legally blind and my guilty pleasure is driving". By the way, I do not drive. That would be bad. Haha. Don't say I didn't warn you.

  • How did you start playing, and what has your journey looked like so far?

In 1992 I began having issues with my central vision and by mid '93 my visual acuity was 20/200 and I was being told I would likely go completely blind. Thankfully that has not happened yet. Back to the point, I needed a way to cope and a friend suggested music. My oldest brothers high school buddy was in a band and taught lessons at the only place to buy a guitar in town. I was on a mission to buy an electric and learn some heavy metal. I was shocked when the heavy metal guitarist I knew was playing right proper classical music on a nylon string guitar. I had never even heard of a nylon string guitar. I was even more shocked when I walked out with a nylon string guitar and had signed up to learn classical guitar. I would spend the next 3 decades largely spinning my wheels wasting time and money on everything from courses, books, videos, and even a few years as a music major in college. I have quit several times for years and forgotten more about music than many will ever know. Breakthrough guitar is absolutely transforming my relationship to music and the instrument I have come to love.

  • If we could wave a magic wand, what would you LOVE to be able to do on guitar?

Of course I fantasize about being as expressive as Santana or Clapton, as innovative as Hendrix, as soulful as SRV or as lightning fast as today's shredders. Really all I wanna do now I continue unlocking my music to see/hear what becomes possible. I will work on posting some of the breakthroughs I have already experience as a student of BTG.

  • What does your ultimate dream look like?

My ultimate dream is still evolving, however, it combines my dreams of performing, teaching and coaching. I just want to share my music and help others unlock theirs.

Happy Thursday!
