My favourite guitar player of all time would be Randy Rhoads. For me the outro solo to You Can’t Kill Rock N Roll, the vibrato part to that is just mind blowing and although the fade starts just as he’s really burning up some steam it’s easily the greatest guitar playing I’ve ever heard. I love Slash and the connection he has with the guitar. Another great artist is Paul Kossoff. Very underrated. Perhaps my favourite bands would be Nightwish, Dreamtheater, Bloodywood, Good Asian/Chinese music and anything that’s really melodic. The Risen Lord by Chris De Burgh is a great one where the guitarist gets into a great groove. I see myself as very melodic, intense, strong stage presence and highly innovative and inspiring. I’d like to create a place where talent like mine is free to blossom with the right guidance and using virtual exposure to reach global audiences. The idea of virtual concerts ever since Nightwish did one last year was really inspiring. That’s some main influences for me

Randy Rhoads IS, and ALWAYS will be a Legend!!

Absolutely. What a legend. He’s my biggest inspiration in many ways. Just totally mind blowing but so down to Earth and shy. I love that sense of humbleness. What’s favourite RR track?

I got into rock n' roll during the glory years of hair bands and dreamed of playing like Eddie Van Halen.  I continue to like that era of music, my favorite bands are still Def Leppard, Van Halen, Warrant, Damn Yankees, and Motley Crue.  I also like several songs from the Goo Goo Dolls; Slide, Black Balloon, and Name are 3 that I have learned how to play on guitar.

I'm 62 now so a lot of my  influences come from the golden era of the 60s and 70s. You can probably guess most of them:

Clapton, Peter Green, B B King, Hendrix, Zappa, Jimmy Page, Paul Kossoff, David Gilmour, Carlos Santana. The only guitarist from later eras that ever caught my attention was the great Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I guess I'll never make a well rounded guitarist because for me it begins and ends with the blues but i guess specialisingis a strength in itself. I've never had any interest in shredding or metal etc.

@Shaan - I would have to say my favorite RR tracks would be Crazy Train - Mr Crowley - I Don't Know - Diary of a Madman - there are so freaking many, but I think his work in these tunes are incredible.

Glenn

Ah man. Great tracks aren't they. I just love everything about the guy. A really good non-egoic-freakin-insane guitarist lol

My favorite guitarist and albums:

Ace Frehley : As a child Ace inspired me to pick up the guitar (Kiss: Alive I & Ace Frehley solo album)

Randy Rhoads : As a teenager, Randy inspired me to mix a variety of styles into Metal (Ozzy: Diary Of A Madman)

Toni Iommi : As a young adult, Toni reminded me to slow it down and find the grooves (Black Sabbath: almost all of the Ozzy and Dio years)

Chris Oliva : Always reminds me to keep the driving forward (Savatage: Sirens & The Dungeons Are Calling)

I suppose it was the Beatles that most inspired me to want to someday play music, but along the way there were artists that influenced me to want to play guitar and many are under rated as leads or seldom mentioned. My list is in no particular order.

1. SRV

2. Lindsay Buckingham

3. George Harrison

4. Carlos Santana

5. Jimmy Page

6. Peter White

7. John Fogerty

8. Mark Farner

9. Eric Clapton

10. Jimi Hendrix

One thing that got me started on guitar was seeing the acoustic guitar lesson commercials in the 1970s.  They sounded so good. From then on many guitarists have inspired me. One that blew me away was Chris Impellitteri with his remake of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". His speed with the use of his sweep picking is phenomenal. Check it out here.

I'm big into nerdcore, so must peeps here will probably never have heard of them. 😅  Also, they're not really "guitarists" so much as "musicians who also play guitar" (which, TBH, is more of what I'm aiming for, myself).

Regardless, the list includes Andrew Stein ("MandoPony") and Nathan Sharp ("NateWantsToBattle").

I also don't follow this guy as much (admittedly partly because of his web handle 😅), but he does some neat metal covers of video game soundtracks that I like watching - and even provided an alternate soundtrack for the game "Crypt of the Necrodancer."
