I am looking for practice ideas that can help me improve my technique for playing clean Am chords and similar chords with tight spacing up and down the neck. I have trouble with my fingers hitting adjacent strings. Looking for suggestions for practices techniques

Hi Ernie, just. practice, practice moving between chords ur using, but a couple of tips that may help. You don't have to play Am 1st position. You can play GBE strings as bar at 5th fret with A string open base note or A@D string 7.  Then for normal A chord try playing it as a D7 shape with all 3 fingers at 2nd fret it may help  I'll attach a list of major & minor triad chord notes for you. Also if you shift a D chord shape up 2 frets on GBE strings you e got E, 3 frets F and so on. Hope you find this helps.
