Don't know what's said in pentatonic unit now, 1351774514_PentatonicPatterns_.thumb.jpeg.c17e14001967cfddd1b0d874f9dacec2.jpega long time since I studied that one. But I can attach the chart I use with the patterns, hope it helps you. Remember you can start from any key note location. This chart say Am but if you shift the whole thing to fret3 you'd be Gm or fret7 you get Bm or fret7 it's Cm. 

You'll see you can play from A key note at D7,. You just watch / cater for G to B warp zone, just try with few good Am tracks like house of rising sun, I like Garry Moore's still got the Blues for you. There's an excellent backing by Jose Charucca on U tube (web)
