I am confused by the positions in grid 101 course

It says this is the major scale, but positions 1-3 do not correlate with major scale patterns I see on the internet.

 

Major scale position 3 is not contiguous with positions 1 & 2 that I see.  I took pictures of the 3 patterns - what is going on??

Think best if you follow 1 source for your early learning path. If you've signed up with BTG stick with Johnathan's path. There's so many contradictory things your gonna find in the internet. There's many different scales/ patterns additions you will learn to mix things up and add later. Grid 101 is the foundation It's easy get confused / overwhelmed with the mass of info out there. So relax, gently gently the course builds on itself unit by unit. I like the course and coming 2 years have learnt so much and happy to be able to work out and play a lot of my favourite music, Just enjoy the learning

@brazosguitarI concur with Alan. Pattern 1 with BTG is where Jonathan started, I would stick with that and you will not get confused during the courses.
