wutzisface
How did you start playing, and what has your journey looked like so far? I've been playing guitar since 8th grade when I discovered a guitar is much cooler on a date than a sax. I took about a year of beginner lessons and have learned by ear and watching others ever since. I am currently 57 years old and considered myself pretty much mediocre. I don't know anything about music theory and have found when I tried to learn lead that my thought processes got in the way. I love fingerstyle picking. James Taylor, Dan Fogleberg, Randy Stonehill, Wes King are some of my favorite guitarists. If we could wave a magic wand, what would you LOVE to be able to do on guitar? I'd love to play as smooth and with confidence as the above mentioned guitarists. What does your ultimate dream look like? I'm pretty much a hack. I'd like to play well enough to do justice to the songs I love to and would love to play. I don't aspire to be on the big stage but would love to be good enough to play coffee shops and small venues. Billjo
I think you will find that you can't practice to much but practice will get you there. I've been playing for over 50 years and I still practice all the time to get better and faster and smoother. If it is in you nothing can get in your way. Sometimes I walk away cause i can't find the key, but i return the next day are so and go back at it. How do you think Doctors get better? They work at a Medical Practice.
