Hi David, as already mentioned by fellow member Total Disorder. Johnathan's discussed the topic many times. Have a look a the Q & A videos, in that section of Forum.  I would suggest that you think about your fingers that you use when playing chords. Example, I often play an A chord as triangle (like D shape) as easier & plenty of room at fret 2. I find it easier to move to & from other shapes.
