Scotty77
Anyone have any advice for dealing with Carpel Tunnel? I've just been getting pain in my left thumb. I'm a lefty, but play right handed. It might have started from practicing, but a couple months ago I was doing a lot of wood carving as well. Using my thumb in a push motion. Any exercises recommended? Sounds like heat can help? I am wearing a wrist brace. And, it is not as bad if I am playing in a classical position. Thanks, Scott
Fred Soukup
If you are only having pain in your thumb, perhaps you jammed it pretty bad. If it is in your wrist this is what I found. Therapy Physical therapy: Practice stretching exercises to improve function. Self-care Place an ice pack on the wrist to relieve symptoms Place the hand in warm water and flex it gently Take frequent breaks and rest your hand if your work requires continuous/repetitive use Nutrition Foods to eat: Omega- 3 fatty acids such as fish, nuts and seeds Vitamin rich foods such as cantaloupe, cauliflower Anti-Inflammatory foods such as berries, and leafy vegetables Foods to avoid: Alcohol
