Glenn Gay
I am starting a Slide Guitar course this coming Monday. It is a 4 part course - and I need to have either a Glass Slide or a Brass Slide. I have Never used one, Just wondering if there is a better material / wall thickness etc? Any thoughts would be greatly apprciated Glenn

Any thoughts would be greatly apprciated Glenn i have found that it really is trial and error and also depends what finger you want to put it on. I prefer my ring finger but it then limits what I can do when not using the slide. some use pinky finger. Derek Trucks does a lot of slide playing with ring finger slide. There are so many sizes available. go hit up the guitar shop if you can and see what you can try out.
Fred Soukup
An unpolished brass slide will give you a nice blues sound A polished steel slide the fits your finger is is good as well
John Long
Hi Glenn. I prefer glass. It seems to be smoother and creates less string noise than metal. Duane Allman used a Corociden pill bottle before they made glass slides for guitar. Danny Gatton used a beer bottle half full of beer and slopped foam all over his '52 Telecaster. If you are not familar with Danny Gatton you should google him. There are a lot of videos online. Anyone interested in guitar is up for a wild ride and a lot of fun watching him perform! Fred Soukup
Half full beer bottle? What a waste of beer. Interesting to watch though.
