Dewey
As a non-facebook user, I am excited to see a forum that I can participate on! How did you start playing, and what has your journey looked like so far? I started about a year ago; during the pandemic there was no travel and I have always wanted to play guitar. My sister in law (she is an incredible musician) has been kind enough to provide lessons for me. I bought an affordable acoustic to start with, and then an electric last March. Playing the electric I now realize the affodable acoustic was not a good choice to start with, as it is very difficult to play when compared to the electric! If we could wave a magic wand, what would you LOVE to be able to do on guitar? I would love to be able to play up and down the neck without having to look at my fingers, to know where the correct notes are on the fretboard without having to think about it. What does your ultimate dream look like? I enjoy rock; specifically from the 1980s-90s when bands had videos on MTV. I would love to be able to play rythm or lead parts of songs and not have to think about where the correct notes are on the neck. Ultimately if I were to get good enough, I would like to try writing my own music.

Austin Carter
Welcome @Dewey! I couldn't agree more. I'm beyond excited to see the forum starting. There will be so many great uses for it. Thank you for answering those questions. It really helps us understand where you're at currently, where you came from and what you're looking for on the guitar. We're going to help you play up and down the neck without looking at your fingers and I love the goal of writing your own music. Let's do it!
