Welcome to the How To Turn Scales Into Music Mini-Masterclass!

You are now in a group of guitar players who love lead guitar, and are serious about making MASSIVE progress FAST!

In this post, we're going to go over how everything is going to work. And then, you will introduce yourself to the rest of the group!

The Mini-Masterclass is from Monday 1/31 until Wednesday 2/02.  Each day you'll find the workshop lesson in the "Daily Exercise" section.

First, let's cover how to access your lessons and resources:

  1. Within your “How To Turn Scales Into Music Mini-Masterclass” group, you’ll see 3 sections: General Chat, Daily Exercises, & a Bonus Section.
  2. The General Chat is for talking all things guitar, asking questions, and connecting with your fellow guitarists.
  3. The Daily Exercises section is where all 3 of the Daily Exercises will be posted. Here is where you can ask questions and talk about the exercises themselves - and even post your own progress for feedback!
  4. The Bonus section is where you can find an exclusive “advanced” lesson & special backing track to accompany it (released on Day 3).
  5. Lastly, after your Mini-Masterclass starts, lessons & exercises will be uploaded. That way, you can review as much as you want, and go at your own pace.

Now that you know how the community works, go ahead and INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN A REPLY BELOW!

You can tell us about your journey so far, what you're looking to accomplish, your favorite guitars and artists, or anything else you want to share!

Greetings, Looking to learn more guitar! Best, Cliff

Hello Everyone,  My name is Blaze and  I found out about the class this morning  when I finally check my email account.   I am hoping that I can pick up information that will take me to the next level of playing in my guitar journey.   I must say that since I joined Breakthrough Guitar my soloing and understanding of the fret board and how everything goes together has improved 100%.

I’m Pat. I’m 72 with old fingers.  I use the guitar to try to keep the old man out.

Hello Mike,

Dennis here from central Oklahoma and I'm of your age group (75 middle of next month) and haven't picked up a guitar in 30 years. My journey with Jonathan so far has been enlightening to say the least. Back when I did play, in the mid 60's, there was no rhyme or reason to what I'd learned, it was all by ear and copying someone else's work. Composing or improvising on my own was never my deal and I'm really looking forward to taking the fright out of trying.

Hi, I'm Hal. I will be 69 in 12 days and I want to be able to improvise and create soulful blues licks to satisfy my music curiosity

I started with an acoustic while serving time in county lockup using one Hal Leonard book on chords and a CCR Cosmos Factory songbook back in 1971. Frustration from not being able to progress from simple chords to more complicated chord shapes and strumming patterns caused me to give it up until I became unable to work due to disabilities.

With lots of free time on my hands I wanted to learn the proper way to play without thinking and to play with feeling, so I searched through You Tube videos for guidance and got more frustrated the more I searched until I found Breakthrough Guitar.

I'm old and I'm slow, but I'm not dead. I still have the capacity to learn new things.

Hi I'm Mark and I've been doing Breakthrough Guitar for about a week.  I'm basically trying to enhance my guitar teaching beyond confusing theory.  I know about that kind of thing firsthand. I've taught music at the college level for 10 years.

Hi All,

My name is Paul.

I've been messing around with the guitar for 5 years.

I have signed up for access to all of Jonathan's courses on Breakthrough Guitar and have taken a couple of his masterclasses.

Looking forward to this one as it would be nice to make scales sound like music because let's face it, we have to practice our scales, no way around it (sorry to be the bearer of bad news)!

Hi, I'm Bob and finally learning to play. This is my first class like this and I hope not my last. I use BackupBob for a user name because I did some playing with a couple of garage bands in my teens but only as backup. I learned a lot of chords and could fill in a little when needed but never learned how to play any lead. That was over 50 years ago. Now retired, I'm trying to learn scales and some lead improvisation. It's like starting over.
