BobbyJPark
Let's see if I have this right. I am currently learning my scale patterns. After listening to Jonathan, the patterns start on the 3rd fret and so forth. But then again, the 1st pattern will start on the keynote. Say the C keynote. This is playing in the major scale. For the minor scale, you start on your keynote, then start with the 6th scale pattern. Is this correct?
Craigt61
That's correct. If you've gotten that far and done modes, this is also called playing the Aeolian mode from the root note C starting pattern 6. The standard pattern you are learning, playing the pattern 1 from the root note is the Ionian mode
